Honest review after a few months of use.

the state of the skate backpack market is really sad right now. this is probably one of the best, though. saying that, it has some pros with a lot of cons.

because of the laptop compartment that has velcro flap thing at the bottom to separate the charging block, the main compartment feels more like a mid-size bag. i use mine for groceries and frozen pizza box needs corner bent to fit. six of talls, some limes in the mesh and some munchies fits perfect tho lol.

straps are comfortable with and without sternum strap, and they have mesh venting, but back doesn't have mesh and there is no waist strap. so, every time you pop the thing flops around, also, the straps should have the "yolk" design to increase carry weight potential while prevent tearing. carry strap is just plain disappointing.

molle system is great, but don't know if they really intended people to use them as they don't sell any branded add-on bags. got some standard molle bags from Amazon. was an extra $40, but overall worth it considering slight lack or organization features.

single molle row on the sides are limiting. causing anything attached to hang and flop around. should be two rows. might be cost saving, might only be for carabiner type stuff, but short sighted.

side bags/water bottle holders are decent. however, zipper pockets are thin, so can't put in anything substantial, though, especially at the same time as a bottle e.g. wallet or skate tool.

material is ok, and that would be ok, if it wasn't the same material EVERYWHERE. tbh, if this is designed for skateboarding, then only 800d+ or an industrial diamond dobby stitch material with a reinforced bottom, and, if equipped with skateboard harness, some sort of extra durable possibly synthetic reinforcement where the grip is guaranteed to wear the bag.

overall probably a 7/10.

Honest Review

from the lack of multiple preview images and detailed product description, it appears to be exactly the same as the Nike "RPM" backpack. not quite though. even though it is advertised as being bigger (although, i question the legitimacy of the measurements for the 26L of the Nike Vs. the 31.5L of the Marana based on the overall matching designs...), it falls short in a few areas.

the is no preview of the back, because unlike the Nike RPM, it doesn't have any venting mesh. just plain Nylon like the rest of the bag. the laptop compartment padding does give the back padding, though. also, the carry handle is a single unreinforced 1-inch nylon strap loop that is folded in the middle to a strange feeling half inch wide handle. shoulder straps seem ok, there is reinforcement on the bottom of straps, but no real reinforcing at the top and no load straps. saying this though, it does have the same deep cell phone/glasses pocket that is made with a non-scratchy soft material by the handle. which is nice. inner pockets and side pockets are all the exact same. center Molle row isn't sown for some reason either.

biggest wear and tear issues that i noticed right away, without even needing to use the bag, were on the bottom. it's almost a sin to not have a rubberized bottom. which this doesn't. not only that, but the material actually feels a bit thinner than the upper when pinched and rolled around between my fingers. this will probably wear out before the rest of the bag... the bottom tension/bedroll straps are also less than 1-inch unreinforced straps.

in conclusion: i'm not super impressed out of the box. i'm replacing a 20yo Dakine "Park Pack". it was $75 at the time and, even though Dakine sucks now, its build quality was far superior to most stuff manufactured these days. Cordura makes a HUGE difference... one could do a lot worse for $120, though, especially these days... just kind of disappointing, because it should be an amazing modular backpack base, that is perfect for city skating as is, but could be converted into a great 72h camping backpack with a few add-on Molle bags. then it just falls short...
